Background:
Prior to immigrating to New Zealand in 2006, Barry obtained experience in the construction industry in the UK, Saudi Arabia, and the Gaza Strip covering a diverse and wide range of development and construction projects from building Hospitals in the middle east, managing award winning remedial works to Historic Buildings in the UK to the more traditional building surveying roles of dispute resolution, defect analysis and project management.    

This experience allows Barry to provide a flexible, pragmatic approach to problem solving that has proved very successful for his New Zealand clients in his involvement with many aspects of Building Surveying, including; project management, due diligence reporting, maintenance planning, dilapidation, and condition surveying, and general building pathology.

Barry has also gained New Zealand experience whilst working for a local authority carrying out processing and compliance monitoring on both residential and commercial buildings which provides him with valuable insight when dealing with Council compliance issues.  

He has also appeared as an expert witness for both plaintiffs and respondents in weathertightness and contractual claims including the High Court and as such is considered a credible expert witness.

Background:

Martin is a Chartered Building Surveyor and a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Since immigrating to New Zealand from the UK in 2007, Martin gained initial experience with a processing and inspection role with a local authority before moving onto private consultancy.

Martin is well practiced in various disciplines of building surveying in New Zealand including asbestos surveys, schedules of condition, and commercial due diligence surveys.  Martin's extensive compliance and technical knowledge is a key value-add for clients requiring robust commercial asset long term maintenance plans.

Exposure to a wide range of projects and clients has allowed Martin to manage residential standalone, multi-unit, commercial, and Ministry of Education remedial works projects.

With the experience that Martin has gained, he has provided credible and well respected independent expert witness services for both plaintiff and defendant parties, in both the High Court and District courts, in weathertightness claims, contractual claims, and general construction disputes.

This broad mix of disciplines together with Martins’ LBP Design 3 qualification allows him to lead our design team.

Background:

Simon is a Chartered Building Surveyor and a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Throughout his career, Simon has been engaged across a wide range of industry sectors including schools, hospitals, housing (private and social), commercial, industrial retail, leisure, and defense sectors.

Simon has a wealth of experience in providing feasibility, design, and project management expertise in the construction industry and has provided strategic asset advice to a number of high-profile organisations.

Since immigrating to New Zealand from the UK in 2012, Simon continues to apply his skill sets regularly to building pathology and in particular weathertightness assessment, investigation, and remediation.

In Simons pragmatic approach he has carried out both coordination roles and provided professional technical support on multifaceted legal claims as well as undertaking independent investigations, provision of expert reports, and delivery of expert evidence on less complex matters.

Background:

​Nick is a Chartered Building Surveyor and a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

Prior to emigrating from the UK, Nick has gained a broad range of experience as a Building Surveyor and Project Manager for one of the largest commercial property developers and landlords in the Northwest of England. 

This role involved every aspect of property management including defect diagnosis and survey, specification and remediation, asbestos management, contract administration, project management of office refurbishment and fit-out, planned maintenance, and property acquisition, to name a few. 

In addition to Nick's broad range of experience, he also advised on fire safety matters such as compartmentation and passive fire remedial work to a large portfolio of multi-storey buildings, and the introduction of risk management strategies and planned maintenance in relation to fire safety.

Background:

Nick has studied for a Bachelor of Construction degree majoring in Quantity Surveying at Massey University.

As a building surveyor, Nick’s role involves carrying out defect and condition surveys, report writing, and assisting the senior building surveyors with contract administration works.

In addition to this, Nick’s quantity surveying skills are invaluable in preparing detailed Long Term Maintenance Plans for our clients.

He is currently preparing to sit his NZIBS examination later this year.

Background:

Adam has studied at Massey University, completing a Bachelor of Construction degree majoring in Quantity Surveying.

As a building surveyor, Adam’s role involves working collaboratively with the Veron team, writing reports, and carrying out Long Term Maintenance Plans for our clients as well as assisting with contract administration works.

He is currently working towards his NZIBS qualifications.

Background:

​Gary is a Senior Quantity Surveyor and a member of the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors.

Having worked on construction projects in five different countries over the last 30 years, Gary brings a broad base of expertise to his role as a senior quantity surveyor at Veron Building Consultants. He has taken the opportunity of working for both Contractors and Consultants since immigrating to New Zealand in 2001. This has provided him with the advantage of being able to effectively negotiate across the various levels of any construction environment and greatly facilitates him in his contract administration and estimating roles.

Given the demands of the construction world and its frequent challenges, Gary’s diverse experience and skills are key factors in ensuring that the financial position of projects is accurately reported and effectively controlled.

Background:

​Krystal has recently graduated from Massey University with a Bachelor of Construction degree, majoring in Quantity Surveying.

In her role as Quantity Surveyor, Krystal works collaboratively within the Veron team assisting with and preparing take-offs, cost estimates, and processing payment claims for all projects across various sectors.  Krystal is working towards obtaining full NZIQS membership with the goal of becoming a fully Registered Quantity Surveyor in the future.

Background:

Helen has work experience in a variety of fields: customer service, finance, property management, key account management, immigration, and sales.  Her previous role as Property Manager at Takapuna Grammar School gives her valuable experience in creating and managing maintenance plans, life cycle costings, and other relevant building asset management reporting.

During her years at Veron Helen has processed a number of FAP claims successfully through MBIE.  She has also attended quantity surveying courses to allow input with regard to the processing of contract construction claims and relevant documentation.  She is in charge of finances and the overall operation of the office.

​Kimberley has joined the team at Veron Building Consultants as a Technical Assistant. Kimberley has over 4 years of experience in customer service, contract administration, and project administration. Kimberley's role as a Technical Assistant involves report preparation, contract administration, and assisting the senior building surveyors with site inspections and document preparation.

Background:

​Leana has recently joined our team at Veron Building Consultants Ltd as the Personal Assistant to the team of building and quantity surveyors. Leana has previously worked as a legal secretary both in South Africa as well as New Zealand with more than 8 years of experience combined. She will assist the building surveyors to prepare documents and help them manage their day-to-day activities and take care of the little things.
